Spike Fuji is not an independent variety in the traditional sense and represents a clone of the Fuji apple. The name is often found in documentation related to plant variety rights, however, detailed morphological descriptions distinguishing it from other clones are absent.
Fuji variety clones are characterized by common traits: it is a late-maturing winter variety. The fruits are distinguished by high density, juiciness, sweet taste, and long keeping quality, which allows them to be used both fresh and for processing.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
