The variety is a local Portuguese apple variety included in the National Catalogue of Fruit Varieties. Conservation and research work on the variety is carried out with the participation of specialists from the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Central Region (DRAPC).

The variety is included in the collection of regional apple trees at the Agrarian Station in Viseu. Official registers classify it as a fruit crop, however, detailed morphological and agronomic descriptions of the variety are absent in open sources.
