The ornamental apple tree 'Vinter Gold' is a tree or large shrub 4–6 meters high with an upright crown that can develop a weeping habit with age. It blooms with white or pink flowers up to 3 cm in diameter. The fruits are small, weighing up to 10 g and approximately 2.5 cm in diameter, bright yellow in color, and remain on the branches for a long time. The variety is characterized by winter hardiness (zone 5) and adaptability to urban environments.

Historical varieties with this name include 'Vasa Vinter', bred in Finland. Its fruits are medium to large in size, egg-shaped, yellow-red in color, and characterized by high winter hardiness and long-term storage capability until March-April. There are also old culinary varieties: 'Pigeon Rød Vinter' and 'Hvid Vinter Pigeon'.
