Friulana di Premariacco is a locally adapted ecotype possessing adaptability to the climatic conditions of its region of origin in Italy. The variety is included in the official catalogues of agricultural plant species of the European Union.
In modern agronomy and breeding, this ecotype is used primarily as a source of germplasm for studying the genetic diversity of tetraploid alfalfa and creating new varieties.
