Kastická represents one of the three key Czech landraces of Medicago sativa. During the natural formation of the variety, Medicago falcata had a significant influence on its properties, which contributed to increasing the plant's hardiness.
The variety has high productivity and is suitable for cultivation in various conditions, including in potato-growing zones. The plant possesses morphological characteristics typical for Czech varieties, including specific development of the root system, and is often used in modern breeding as a genetic resource.
