The Lamia variety is a genotype of alfalfa (Medicago sativa) developed under Mediterranean region conditions. It is used as a forage crop for hay production and livestock grazing.
During agronomic trials, the variety showed high dry matteryield under rainfed conditions. Lamia demonstrates the ability to maintain root and shoot mass under repeated drought exposure, outperforming several local varieties in this indicator. Biomass composition analyses indicate that the differences in NDF and ADF fiber content between Lamia and other tested Greek varieties are insignificant.
