The main feature of the variety is a low saponin content of about 0.1%, which is approximately ten times less than in standard alfalfa varieties. Reducing the level of these antinutritional factors improves feed intake and allows for the replacement of up to 40% of soybean protein in the diet of monogastric animals with alfalfa meal or pellets.
The concentration of sapogenins in the plants of the variety remains consistently low throughout the entire growing season and across different years of cultivation. The variety is also being studied in the context of interaction with pests, in particular, the specificity of its reaction to pea aphid infestation, determined by its chemical composition, is noted.
