The variety is an upright plant intended for use as a forage crop. In field trials, the yield of the variety was at or above the average compared to other varieties, however, no statistically significant advantages were identified.
The variety is characterized as susceptible to rust with moderate resistance to certain bacterial diseases. Product quality indicators, such as protein content, acid detergent fiber, and neutral detergent fiber, showed no statistically significant differences from other varieties. In the literature, the variety is also found under the experimental designation ROG 179.
