The variety is mid-season, the period from germination to technical maturity is 38–50 days. The height of the semi-spreading bush varies from 35 to 60 cm. The leaves are large, bright green, often with a serrated edge, and have a spoon-like or convex shape.
The plant has tender and succulent leaves with a sweet-spicy taste with notes of anise and clove. The crop is heat-loving, it dies at a temperature of 8 °C or lower. The variety is adapted for cultivation in open and protected ground, as well as in containers, and requires fertile soils and regular watering.
The variety is considered the standard for making classic Italian pesto sauce. It is used fresh and dried for vegetable, meat, fish dishes and in confectionery.
