Paoletto belongs to the Genoese type of basil. The plant is medium-tall, highly leafy, and forms a compact upright bush. The medium-sized leaves have a characteristic spoon-shaped form and dark green color.
The variety possesses increased tolerance to downy mildew compared to classic Genoese varieties. It is versatile in cultivation, suitable for open field, trays, and pots, and with the creation of appropriate conditions, sowing is possible throughout the year.
Intended for food use, in particular for the preparation of pesto sauce. The variety is also actively used in scientific research as one of the commercial genotypes for experiments in biotechnology and plant in vitro regeneration protocols.
