The plant reaches a height of 45–50 cm. The foliage has a combination of green and purple shades; young shoots can color into an almost black tone. The bright pink or crimson flowers are sterile, which prevents bitterness in the leaves during the flowering period and maintains the ornamental nature of the bush.
Taste qualities are characterized as typical for basil, but milder and fruitier compared to the Genovese variety, with a predominance of linalool-methyl chavicol in the essential oil composition. The variety is adapted to a cool climate and tolerates temperatures down to 8°C. It is used in cooking and for decorative landscaping.
