The variety is a well-known elite form of American breeding. In agronomic research, it often serves as the base genetic background for the introgression of beneficial genes from wild relatives of the species Oryza rufipogon for the purpose of developing lines with increased yield and improved performance metrics.
Morphologically, the variety belongs to the long-grain type.
