The variety belongs to the group of semi-fine rice. The medium-sized grains have a crystalline appearance, increase in volume when cooked, and acquire a pearly-gray color. The plant is characterized as tall, with a well-developed root system.

The variety is early-maturing, yet possesses low yield and susceptibility to phytopathological problems, due to which it has practically exited industrial circulation. Cooking time for the grain is from 16 to 25 minutes depending on the degree of processing.

Traditionally, the variety is valued for its ability to hold its shape well when cooked and absorb sauces, thanks to which it is used in the preparation of soups, risotto, timbales, and salads. Currently, it is grown primarily in the niche organic sector.
