The variety belongs to the Japonica group. The plant is characterized by a semi-erect bush type. Data on grain morphology is contradictory: some sources classify it as a round-grain variety, while others refer to it as a medium-grain rice.

The amylose content in the grain is approximately 17.06%. The variety is often mentioned in the context of research into genetic diversity and salt tolerance, however, detailed characteristics regarding lodging or disease resistance are not publicly available. Historically, the variety is maintained in rice genetic resource collections in Italy.
