The plant reaches a height of 80–100 cm and has a glaucous-green color. The inflorescence is an elongated ovoid panicle. The leaf sheaths of the seedlings are characterized by pronounced anthocyanin coloration and weak pubescence. The thousand kernel weight is 6.0–7.0 g.

The variety is distinguished by good lodging resistance, but is prone to shattering if harvesting is delayed. It possesses moderate resistance to Helminthosporium and Fusarium, but is susceptible to ergot. Grain yield is from 1.6 to 2.8 t/ha. The variety demonstrates good green mass productivity.

The primary purpose of the seeds is use as feed for birds and as components of feed mixtures for domestic animals. The crop is promising as an annual forage plant and is well adapted to the conditions of sandy soils.
