The variety is of Italian origin and is a traditional crop of the Lombardy region. The plant can have both bush and pole growth habits. The bean is classified as a shelling variety but can be used as a green bean at early stages of maturity.

Legume pods reach 12–15 cm in length and 1.3–1.5 cm in width. The pods have a light cream or milky-white background with characteristic red or pink streaks and spots. The grains have a sweetish nutty flavor and a tender texture.

Cultivation requires fertile soil and a warm climate. Pole forms require the installation of supports.
