Variety description

The UCB1-D11 variety is a clonal rootstock intended for growing commercial pistachio varieties. It was selected from a population of UCB1 hybrid seedlings (P. atlantica x P. integerrima) to overcome the genetic heterogeneity of standard seed material.

Plants of this clone possess increased vigor and resistance to Verticillium wilt (Verticillium dahliae). The rootstock exhibits high tolerance to soil salinity, including chlorides, sulfates, and carbonates of sodium and calcium, which allows for adaptation to irrigation water quality.

During the utilization of clonal lines of this series, cases of the manifestation of "Pistachio Bushy Top Syndrome" were observed, accompanied by growth retardation and morphological anomalies. The causes of this phenomenon are linked both to possible genetic changes during microclonal propagation and to pathogenic factors.
