The variety is a selection clone developed to improve the characteristics of the traditional UCB1 rootstock. Its use is aimed at stimulating vegetative growth and increasing the productivity of grafted pistachio varieties.
The clone possesses resistance to Verticillium wilt, salt tolerance, and adaptability to cold climates, which is characteristic of the entire UCB1 rootstock family. Unlike the standard UCB1 hybrid, which is propagated by seeds, UCB1-D14 is a patented clone for vegetative propagation.
