Mors stora is an old landrace pea variety from the Skåne region, included in the Swedish Grönt Kulturarv cultural heritage preservation program. The plant belongs to the marrowfat pea group and is characterized by a vigorous growth habit, reaching a height of 160–200 cm, which requires the mandatory installation of supports.
The variety is mid-season. The pods are drop-shaped and contain approximately 7 seeds each. At the stage of technical maturity, the peas are large, sweet, and have an intense green color. Upon reaching biological maturity, the seeds become wrinkled and acquire a greenish-yellow hue.
The peas are intended primarily for fresh consumption, and are also suitable for freezing and canning. At an early stage of maturity, the pods are sometimes consumed whole.
