Variety description

10 August 2026

Rosakrone is a tall plant with a stem height of 1.2–1.5 m. The variety is characterized by the presence of anthocyanin pigmentation and a tendency toward fasciation, in which the stem thickens and the flowers gather into large inflorescences at the top of the plant. Flower color varies from pink-white to red-pink.

The plant is grown as an ornamental and vegetable crop. It is recommended to use young pods in the sugar pea stage for food, as flavor quality decreases due to starch accumulation when overripe. Due to the significant height of the stems, the variety requires the mandatory use of trellises or other supports in the open field.

In scientific literature, the variety is often mentioned as a genetic sample for studying mutations of the determinate growth type and fasciation.
