Rote Erbse von Pischelsdorf is an ancient local variety (landrace). The plant is characterized by a tall stem that requires support and flowers of a pink or mauve shade.
The peas of the variety have a pronounced dark red color. The variety is considered universal: it is used both fresh and dried (with preliminary soaking) for further preparation. Taste characteristics vary from moderately sweet to varieties with a slight bitterness.
