Variety description

The plant has dense, vertically arranged shoots. Scale-like needles are lemon-green in summer, and golden-yellow when grown in the sun. At the age of 10 years, the shrub reaches 0.5–0.8 m; mature specimens usually grow to 1.0–1.5 m.

The variety has moderate disease resistance and moderate winter hardiness (USDA zones 5–6), requiring cover for young plants and protection from desiccating winds. Among Platycladus, this variety is the most resistant to heat, dry soil, and sunburn.

The plant tolerates pruning well and is used in landscape design for creating low hedges, decorating rockeries, rock gardens, and for container gardening.
