The Ironblade variety, also known by the breeding number J-1138, is a subject of professional trials under the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP). It is intended for use on golf courses, sports fields, and other park areas.
In the framework of comparative NTEP tests, the variety is evaluated by turf density and percent live cover. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant and information on its breeding methods are currently unavailable in open publications.
