The variety is the result of clonal selection from a local population of the 'Magyar kajszi' (Hungarian Best) variety. For a long time, it served as a standard for apricot cultivation in Hungary and is valued for the excellent flavor qualities of its fruit, which is intended for universal use.

The plant possesses good winter hardiness and stable yield. In nurseries, the variety is often used as a scion due to high compatibility with a number of rootstocks, however, it has a significant disadvantage — susceptibility to Plum Pox Virus.
