The Nancyaprikose apricot, of French origin, is a tree 3–5 m in height. Its yellow-orange fruits are medium-sized and characterized by juiciness and a sweet taste. The variety matures in late July – August and is used for fresh consumption, processing, and drying.
American plum (Prunus americana) is a large shrub or tree 3–8 m in height, prone to forming root suckers. The plant possesses high winter hardiness, withstanding frosts down to -40°C. It is used primarily as rootstock for cultivated varieties and for establishing shelterbelts.
The fruits of the American plum are edible but differ from cultivated varieties in their smaller size and more acidic taste; therefore, they are used for making jams and jellies. The species is susceptible to diseases such as black knot, rust, and powdery mildew.
