The Fakoussi variety is a local genetic resource included in apricot collections in Tunisia. In scientific literature, it is considered primarily in the context of research on flowering biology and comparative analysis of the characteristics of various varieties.

In a number of studies devoted to the assessment of susceptibility to pathogens, Fakoussi is classified as a variety possessing resistance to the fungal disease Monilinia fruit rot, caused by Monilinia laxa.
