The fruits of this variety are characterized by high quality, pleasant sweetness, juicy orange flesh, and a distinct aroma. The fruit skin has a characteristic red hue on a yellow-orange background, which is why the variety received its name, translating from Catalan as "red cheek." Harvesting typically occurs in mid-July.

Trees of this variety can reach a significant age, but they are susceptible to fungal diseases of the wood. Apricots of this variety are mainly consumed fresh, and are also widely used in cooking for making jams, preserves, compotes, and traditional baked goods.
