The Lady Elena variety is noted for its high sensitivity to bacterial canker caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae. This disease can cause significant damage to trees in both young and old orchards, which is most pronounced under Mediterranean conditions.

Morphologically, the variety is similar to the Tardif de Bordaneil 1 variety. The fruits, leaves, and flowers of the variety were subjected to comparative evaluation in scientific studies aimed at examining the quality and resistance parameters of fruit crops.
