The tree is vigorous with a spreading, rounded, and usually sparse crown. The fruits have a round-oblate or ovate shape with a pronounced ventral suture; the average weight varies from 35–40 to 50–60 g. The flesh is light orange, juicy, sweet-tart, and aromatic. The stone is medium-sized, easily separates from the flesh, and the kernel is sweet.

The variety is of early or early-mid maturity group, entering fruiting in the 3–4th year after planting. The tree is winter-hardy and drought-tolerant. The variety is self-fertile and possesses good transportability. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, drying, and processing.

The variety became the progenitor of many hybrids, such as «Сын Краснощёкого», «Краснощёкий поздний» and «Краснощёкий Никитский».
