The variety is the subject of scientific research aimed at studying the quality of fruit and kernels. One of the key characteristics of the variety is a high kernel-to-stone weight ratio, which is approximately 45%.
In official UPOV documentation, Meligat is used as a reference variety when describing morphological traits. In particular, the fruits of this variety have a slightly asymmetric shape in profile.
