The Pellecchiella variety is the result of centuries of selection in the Campania region and holds the status of a protected geographical indication. Fruit ripening occurs in mid-July. The variety's characteristics were formed under the influence of local volcanic soils rich in potassium.

The fruits have orange-yellow skin, often with a red blush or dots, and are distinguished by a balanced sugar-to-acid ratio. The flesh is yellow. The variety is characterized as quite delicate and perishable, which limits its capabilities in modern mass supply chains.
