The variety belongs to local Italian cultivars of the European ecological-geographical type. It is actively used in breeding programs as a parental form and is a subject of genetic research, including the analysis of SSR markers and S-alleles.

In economic terms, the variety is considered one of the best for canning. Regarding pathogens, the variety is classified as tolerant to the Plum pox virus. Ripening times are estimated in comparison with the Cafona variety.
