Spergia is a collective dialect name for local folk apricot populations distributed in the Calabria and Puglia regions. It should be noted that in some areas, for example in Sicily, a similar name may refer to a variety of peach.

The fruits are medium-large in size, weighing 55–65 g, and have a flattened, slightly asymmetrical shape. The skin is smooth, pale yellow or whitish in color with a pink-red blush. The flesh is light, has a fine texture, possesses a wine-like taste with a slight bitterness, and the pit contains a bitter seed.
