The variety belongs to the category of traditional local varieties (landraces) and is grown mainly on small farms. It is part of the local apricot group known collectively as Crisommole and is grown using organic fertilizers without the use of chemical plant protection products.

Currently, the variety is being studied as part of agrobiodiversity conservation, in particular at the Azienda Agricola Sperimentale Regionale Improsta. Research includes molecular marker-based genetic distance analysis and compatibility testing for grafting onto various rootstocks, such as apricot, peach, and cherry plum seedlings.
