The Doupovská černá variety originates from the Karlovy Vary region and belongs to old landrace varieties preserved within the framework of biodiversity protection programs. The trees are adapted to growing at altitudes of up to 600 meters above sea level and are distinguished by their undemanding nature.

The fruits have an elongated heart shape and a dark red color. The flesh is of medium firmness, highly juicy, and possesses a sweet-tart, mildly spicy taste without bitterness. The juice has medium color intensity. The variety ripens in the fourth cherry week, usually in mid-June.

The variety is used primarily for fresh consumption and is valuable as a genetic resource.
