The variety belongs to the duroni group and is an autochthonous cultivar originating from the Costasavina area near Pergine. The harvest period falls between July 10–20. The fruits are characterized by an average weight of about 6.1 g and a high anthocyanin content.

The skin and flesh of the fruits are dark red, almost black. The taste is sweet-and-sour, fruity, with wine-like notes and a characteristic blueberry aftertaste. The flesh is noted for its good to excellent crunchiness. The variety possesses good disease resistance and is the subject of scientific research into genetic diversity.
