This form was included in a mutagenesis program started in 1967 in Rome, the goal of which was to obtain compact sweet cherry mutants. In scientific literature, it is mentioned as part of genetic resource collections along with other forms of the Ravenna series.

The variety's characteristics are linked to the breeding program objectives: mutants of this series are characterized by short internodes, enhanced basal dominance, and early entry into fruiting. Specific data on tree height, fruit characteristics, or disease resistance in publications are limited.

The main problem of this breeding form, noted in research, is the genetic instability of a number of clones, which hinders its wide commercial use.
