The variety «Agata» was obtained as a result of selecting forms of the species Prunus cerasifera var. divaricata. The main purpose of this variety is to serve as a rootstock for grafting cultivated plum varieties, which ensures better productivity and quality of seedlings compared to using random cherry plum seedlings.

The plant material of this variety is characterized by the absence of economically significant viral diseases. The variety is included in the official register of rootstocks approved for circulation and is not a variety intended for fruit consumption.
