The tree is characterized by low vigor and a compact crown shape; due to its high hardiness, it is often used as a rootstock. The variety is late-maturing, with the harvest ripening from mid-July to mid-August.
The fruits are ellipsoidal in shape and have a small weight of 25–30 g. The skin is violet-blue with a thick layer of waxy bloom. The flesh is yellow, juicy, sweet with a hint of acidity, and the stone separates well. The fruits are used to make jams and marmalades or consumed in dried and fresh form.
The variety is highly adapted to local conditions, but is susceptible to Monilinia, which requires control.
