The variety is a very old autochthonous cultivar, the origin of which is associated with the area of the commune Marange-Silvange. The trees are characterized as small and very productive, with the variety being of interest primarily for the preservation of genetic diversity.
The fruits are small or very small, with olive-green or ash-colored skin, sometimes with reddish or brown spots and numerous pores. The flesh is yellow-green or golden in color, translucent, moderately firm, tender and slightly crunchy, with a distinct sweet taste. In the literature, the variety is also found under the name Grosse Marange or the local name Karschnattspromm.
