The Zucchella variety is traditional for the Emilia-Romagna region and has been known since the 18th century. The tree has medium vigor, reaching a height of 6–8 meters, and is considered highly productive. The harvesting period occurs in July–August.
The fruits are small or medium-sized and have a slightly elongated shape. The skin is purple or dark maroon in color and covered with a waxy bloom. The flesh is amber-yellow, firm, juicy, and aromatic, with a stone that separates easily.
The variety possesses high adaptability, frost resistance down to -25°C, and good disease resistance. Zucchella is considered a self-fertile variety, although the presence of other plum varieties facilitates cross-pollination and increases yields.
