The plant is a small tree or large shrub 3 to 5 meters tall, sometimes up to 8 meters. Branches often have thorns, leaves are small, matte-green; flowering is early, with white flowers.
Fruits are small, about 2–3 cm in diameter, round in shape, with color varying from blue-black to yellow-green. The flesh is firm with a tart-sweet taste and high tannin content; the stone does not always separate easily.
The variety is late, with fruits ripening in late summer or autumn, sometimes after frosts. The plant is characterized by high resistance to adverse conditions. Fruits are mainly used for the preparation of jams, juices, and distillates.
