Zibartle is an archaic form of plum that historically grows in the Black Forest region. The plant is characterized by high winter hardiness and the ability to grow in mountainous conditions at altitudes of up to 1200 meters.
The fruits are very small, with a diameter of 15–25 mm, with a small amount of pulp relative to the size of the pit. Ripening occurs late, often in November; the fruits can remain on the tree after the first frosts, which helps to improve their taste qualities.
The primary use for the fruit is processing, in particular, the production of strong alcoholic distillate.
