The variety is a local genetic resource of southern Italy, not being a product of breeding in the modern sense. It represents an important object for the conservation of biodiversity and differs from the Riviezzo Grosso and Riviezzo Piccolo forms.
The fruits of the variety are characterized by an oil content in the kernels of 59.93%. The variety is distinguished by sufficient productivity and high yield, and is widely used in traditional recipes, such as almonds stuffed into figs.
