The Zé Dias tree exhibits strong growth, an upright crown, and medium foliage density. Flowering occurs in early to semi-early periods; the flowers have a white-pink hue.
The fruits are small, oval-rounded nuts with a hard shell. The kernels are small or medium in size and light brown in color. The variety is characterized by medium yield, a high kernel output, and a tendency to form double kernels.
The variety belongs to traditional local cultivars adapted to the hot, dry summer conditions of the Algarve region. The literature mentions the existence of two forms of this variety: Grado and Miúdo.
