The variety was developed by the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station as a result of crossing Early Elberta and Halehaven varieties. The first fruiting of the original tree was recorded in 1951.
Fruits are medium to large in size and round in shape. The skin is yellow with a blush, flesh is yellow, with a medium-firm consistency. The variety is of the "freestone" type with an easily detachable pit.
The plant belongs to early-mid maturity group varieties. The variety was used by breeders as a parent form in the development of new peach varieties.
