The variety was obtained by crossing Quetta and Lippiat's varieties with large-fruited peach varieties. It became one of the first commercial nectarine varieties intended for industrial horticulture and supply to the fresh fruit market.
Fruits of this variety have thin skin, a rich aroma, and a balanced sugar-acid content. Due to susceptibility to gray mold and the difficulty of cultivation, the popularity of the variety in modern intensive orchards has declined.
