The variety is widely used as a standard rootstock for peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, and almonds due to its high compatibility and stability of characteristics during seed propagation. Trees on this rootstock are vigorous, possess good winter hardiness and resistance to soil waterlogging and bacterial canker, however, they are susceptible to root-knot nematode.
The fruits of the variety have yellow flesh and are of the freestone type with an easily removable pit; historically, they were used for canning and drying. For scientific purposes, the variety became a significant object due to the fact that its genome was the first to be fully sequenced as part of genetic research.
