The variety was obtained at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre as a result of crossing the J.H. Hale and Vedette varieties and was officially introduced in 1961. The fruits are distinguished by good firmness and color, ripening at times similar to the Veteran variety.
The trees possess stable winter hardiness in the conditions of the region of origin. The variety was recommended for cultivation in areas where the problem of bacterial leaf spot is absent.
