The Wassenberger variety, also called Wassenberger Sämling, is one of the oldest traditional peach varieties in Central Europe. One of the key characteristics of the variety is its ability to retain varietal traits when propagated by seeds.
The tree is characterized by vigorous growth, forms a wide canopy, and reaches a height of about 350 cm by ten years of age. The variety is self-fertile, fruits ripen from mid-July, have a red blush, a sweet taste, and juicy flesh.
The plant is characterized by high overall hardiness and winter hardiness, although the flower buds can be sensitive to frosts. Relative resistance to peach leaf curl is noted.
